The Gloucester County Historical Society contains one of the largest genealogical collections in Southern New Jersey and is the holder of official Gloucester Country documents back to the 17th century. GCHS holdings include newspapers, unrecorded deeds and surveys, and cemetery and church records. They also host the GCHS photo collection containing thousands of original photos, slides, negatives, daguerreotypes, and tintypes. Built between 1851 and 1854 by banker Joseph Shipley, Rockwood is an excellent example of Rural Gothic Revival Architecture.
